How we help
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Central Alberta provides a home away from home for out-of-town families with sick children receiving medical attention in Red Deer. Our purpose is keeping families together in a compassionate and comfortable, home-like atmosphere.
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Central Alberta is inviting, yet secure; welcoming, yet private. It is a place for entire families to use, enabling them to keep their lives moving forward as normally as possible - despite their medical crisis.
The House can accommodate up to 11 families, each with their own suite and private bath, while sharing kitchen facilities and common areas. Although occupancy is not based on financial need, the nightly fee is purposely kept at a low rate to make it an affordable option for all families wanting to be close to their ill family member.
The House opened on February 27, 2012. It is a non-profit organization owned and operated by the Southern Alberta Pediatric Hostel Society. It is one of 14 Houses across Canada and one of over 300 around the world.
